Excess Skin on the Upper Lids

Upper blepharoplasty removes surplus skin that hoods the eyelid. A crease is planned so the eye can open more fully without changing the shape of the eye itself.

• Skin excess is distinguished from a low brow, which a lid operation will not lift.
• The incision sits in the natural crease where possible.
• Enough skin is left for the eye to close comfortably.

Reducing Puffiness

Puffiness often comes from fat pads that have pushed forward. Lower eyelid surgery can reduce or reposition that fat and, when needed, remove a small amount of loose skin.

• Fat is reduced conservatively so the lid does not look hollow.
• Skin removal on the lower lid is kept modest to protect the lid margin.
• Dryness, tearing and lid position are checked before surgery is agreed.

Opening a Tired Eye Area

The operation is done under anaesthesia, local or general depending on the plan. Bruising is common at first. The aim is a fresher eye area, within the limits of brow position and skin quality.

• Upper, lower, or combined surgery is confirmed after examination.
• You are advised on ointment, swelling and when lenses or makeup can return.
• Follow-up confirms that the lids still close and the scars are settling in the creases.
