Follicular unit
The natural grouping of one to four hairs that grow together.
Hair does not grow as single strands but in natural clusters of one to four, sharing a sebaceous gland and a tiny muscle. A graft is one of these units. This is why graft counts and hair counts differ: 3,000 grafts is typically 6,000 to 7,500 hairs.
