The timeline
Days are counted from the procedure. Where a range is normal, the earlier end is shown — ask your surgeon before taking it as the date.

Day 0 · Procedure
Procedure day
Grafts are implanted directly with a Choi pen, without pre-made incisions. Expect six to eight hours in the chair.

Day 1 · Check-up
First wash at the clinic
The first wash is done for you and the technique is demonstrated for home.

Day 2 · Travel
Safe to fly home
Travel from day two. Because DHI needs no shaving of the recipient area, the result is less visible in transit.

Day 3 · Daily care
Daily washing begins
Lotion then shampoo, once daily. Pat dry, never rub.

Day 7 · Work
Back to desk work
Most people return to an office this week; redness fades faster than with shaved techniques.

Day 10 · Daily care
Crusts have cleared
Scabs have washed away. The scalp may still look pink for a few more days.

Day 14 · Exercise
Light exercise
Light cardio is fine. Avoid sweating heavily, swimming and sauna for another two weeks.

Shock loss
Transplanted hairs shed over the next few weeks. The follicles remain and will regrow.

Day 30 · Exercise
Full training
No restrictions on exercise. Keep the scalp out of direct sun.

First new growth
New hairs appear, finer than they will eventually be.

Day 180 · Result
Around half the final density
The result is visible to other people, even if it is not yet complete.

Day 365 · Result
Final result
Full density and natural direction. DHI results often mature slightly earlier than FUE.
Recovery varies between people. Smoking, diabetes, how big the case was and how carefully the aftercare is followed all move these dates, usually later rather than earlier.
How long to stay in Istanbul
The package allows 3 nights, which covers the procedure, the checks and the final review before you fly. Staying one extra day is the cheapest insurance against a flight that gets moved.
