Haematoma
A collection of blood under the skin after surgery.
Bleeding that pools in a surgical pocket rather than draining away. A small one resolves on its own; a large one is drained, sometimes in theatre. It is the most common early complication after facelift and breast surgery, and is the reason blood-thinning medication has to be declared beforehand.
