The timeline
Days are counted from the procedure. Where a range is normal, the earlier end is shown — ask your surgeon before taking it as the date.
-
Day 0 · Procedure
Surgery day
Ninety minutes, usually day-case. A compression vest goes on in theatre.
-
Day 1 · Daily care
Compression vest
The vest is worn day and night for four weeks, then daytime only for two more.
-
Day 4 · Travel
Safe to fly home
Travel after the first wound check.
-
Day 7 · Work
Back to desk work
Most men return to an office within a week.
-
Day 28 · Exercise
Lower-body exercise
Legs and cardio from week four.
-
Day 42 · Exercise
Full training
Chest training from six weeks.
-
Day 90 · Result
Swelling resolved
The chest contour becomes clear as the last firmness settles.
-
Day 270 · Result
Final result
Scars around the areola are usually difficult to see.
Recovery varies between people. Smoking, diabetes, how big the case was and how carefully the aftercare is followed all move these dates, usually later rather than earlier.
How long to stay in Istanbul
The package allows 5 nights, which covers the procedure, the checks and the final review before you fly. Staying one extra day is the cheapest insurance against a flight that gets moved.
